Gini Chin
proprietor, wine maven
Raised
on a Pennsylvania Dutch diet of pickled pigs feet, scrapple,
tripe, chow-chow and dandelion wine, Gini came to the Northwest in search
of a college degree. Not only did she find the degree (in graphic design
at the University of Oregon), but she also rescued her palate upon discovering
the fresh, local delights of Northwest cuisine. Beyond her hobbies as a
self-professed foodie, accomplished cook, world traveler, and confessed
restaurant “hauntress”, Gini managed a successful graphic design in Portland.
There, her projects included work for such clients as Starbucks, Ron Paul
Restaurants, Northwest Airlines, The Head Table, the Food Alliance, and
Coffee People (where she created the famous Black Tiger logo, among other
marks). Gini also designed for Columbia Sportswear, Adidas, Candies, Rockport,
Vasque Hiking Boots, Oregon Business Magazine, the Portland Monthly, Portland
State University’s Food Industry Leadership Center, and such Long Beach
Peninsula clients as Goose Point Oysters and the Seafood Consumer Center.
But when she discovered Ilwaco, Gini was inspired by the quiet peace of
the port and the eagles soaring over her home on Cooks’ Hill to open a
unique place called Raven & Finch.
